ITI Limited to Transform Road Safety with AI Analytics in Uttar Pradesh

ITI Limited will launch India’s first AI-driven road safety pilot project in Uttar Pradesh. This initiative promises to transform how states approach traffic management and accident prevention.

The public sector telecom giant secured approval from the Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways. ITI will partner with US technology firm mLogica for this groundbreaking experiment.

Road accidents remain a critical challenge across Indian states. Traditional enforcement methods often fail to predict or prevent crashes effectively. This pilot represents a data-driven approach that could reshape public safety strategies nationwide.

The six-week prototype will consolidate multiple data sources into one system. Accident records, weather feeds, vehicle telematics, and driver histories will feed AI models. These models will identify accident hotspots and predict risk patterns in real-time.

“We are very excited to enter this new area of AI driven traffic management and are very humbled that Uttar Pradesh government has chosen our model for its traffic management as a test case,” said Rajesh Rai, Chairman and Managing Director of ITI Limited.

The analytics platform will identify true causes of accidents and fatalities. Black spots and high-risk areas will receive targeted preventative strategies, enabling proactive accident prevention and enhancing public safety.

ITI’s approach offers several competitive advantages for state governments and demonstrates a commitment to data-driven governance.
